Gracious God of wisdom, truth and love, send your Spirit to open afresh our hearts and minds to hear what you have to say. Inspire and equip us to be a blessing in your world, answering your call. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things

Matthew 24:32–35

32“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 34Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

Reflections and Encouragement: Georgina Taylor

Declaration of Appreciation

Today we honour and give thanks for Canada’s Farmerettes, one of whom was St. Andrew’s Mary Fountain.

We do so humbly mindful that we are the living legacy of their commitment to the well being of this world.

During World War Two Canada initiated the "Farmerettes" program to address the wartime labour shortage on farms.

"Farmerettes" were young women who contributed significantly to food production for Canada and Allied troops.  High school girls and young women were recruited to worked on farms, in orchards, and canneries, often up to 10 hours a day, while sleeping in camp quarters at night.

The farmerette initiative played a crucial role in ensuring food security during wartime and highlighted the contributions of civilians to the war effort on the home front.

For what Mary and her friends did for us and for all, we give thanks. May we from them be inspired to do our best, in Christ-grounded faith and hope, as we answer the call to love neighbour as self.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

We gather on the traditional territory of the Wendat, the Anishnaabeg and the Haudenosaunee Peoples. We are also on lands that are part of the Dish with One Spoon Wampum. We live and work, worship, learn and meet on lands that are the traditional territory of many different Indigenous Peoples who were here before the establishment of European colonies.
